Experience a revolution in design, an exciting trade show format, an inspiring cultural program and sustainability-focused event at salone del mobile 2023! Hosted from 18-24 April at Fiera Milano Rho in Milan, this 61st edition of the world's biggest design fair promises plenty of thrilling innovations.
The 'Design Schools - Universities/BUILDING THE (IM)POSSIBLE' theme puts a special focus on young designers, while its new graphic identity consists of 26 posters asking "Do you speak Design?" to test visitors' knowledge of the alphabet and how to properly express themselves in design language.
Euroluce has been reimagined with improved walkability and intuitive connections between its four pavilions, inspired by traditional Italian town street plans. The public spaces provide visitors with a range of spaces such as cafes, benches, charging stations for energy devices and devices; plus Piero Lissoni designed a bistro and fine dining eatery inside each pavilion to further reinforce this biennial theme of 'Design for People.'
In response to climate change, visionaries will showcase experimental projects and eco-conscious concepts with durable, natural or reclaimed materials. Sustainable furnishing and lifestyle solutions will be a central theme of the exhibition and event programme - including Formafantasma's modular structures made with paper and wood that minimize their environmental impact and can be recycled after the fair is over.
Sustainability and healthy living will remain at the core of global furnishing industry in 2023, with a goal to promote an environment that respects both environment and health, while also creating a positive community spirit. To facilitate visitors' experience at the trade fair - which focuses on one exhibition level instead of having pavilions at upper levels - exhibitors have designed it so they can spend more time exploring products while having a curated and efficient experience.
In addition to the new stand scenography and convenient services, Salone del Mobile will feature an exciting cultural program that is accessible for everyone - even families! On the ground floor of the exhibition space, special areas and events for kids as well as workshops tailored towards both parents and kids will take place.
Studio Formafantasma will create a Phygital in the heart of the fair, serving as a hub for all activities and exhibitions. This project consists of twelve architectural 'intermezzos' lined by an outdoor 'Aurore' arena and plaza that are carefully designed to offer visitors an immersive cultural experience within this bustling fair.
At Salone del Mobile 2023, one of the most intriguing events will be 'Alcova' group show, which transforms disused buildings in Milan each year into immersive spaces where brands and designers can creatively intervene.
